As Thailand was dealing with its worst floods in 60 years, Pattaya’s fashion designers were showing off their talents at the second Pattaya Fashion Week at the Royal Cliff Grand Hotel.
The fashion festival, which ran from 9-17 September, included 20 international brands showing off the latest styles for swimwear, evening wear, work wear and casual wear from top brands including Bossini, BSC, Chaps, Dapper, Elle, Esprit, F Fashion Paris, Fox, Le Coq Sabrina, Manlio Nuovo, Paul Frank, Playboy, Sloggi, Speedo, Sportif, Triumph, Volcom and Wacoal.
But the range that stole the show (excuse the pun) was the “Silk Inspired Project” by the convicted criminals from the Central Womens Correctional Institution in Bangkok. Sponsored by HRH Bajra Kitiyabha to celebrate the Queen’s 79th birthday, the 44 silk gowns were made with silk from the princess’s own rural economy programs in Nong Bua, Lamphu and Udon Thani.
Also hot on the day was the swimsuit competition featuring models from Australia, Bangladesh, China, Guam, India, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Korea, Kyrgyzstan, Macau, Malaysia, Mongolia, New Zealand, the Philippines, Russia, Samoa, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Tonga, Ukraine and Vietnam who showed off the SISI Collection from Bangkok around the Infiniti Pool.
A special component of the swimsuit event was a collection of t-shirts and other fashion memorabilia which which auctioned to raise money for victims of the Thailand floods.
