You’ll find that southern Thailand has mostly two seasons throughout the year; the dry season and cold season. The temperature stays pretty much the same, though.
though if you go to Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai or another northern Thai city, the nights tend to be cool between November and February. Best of all, there is very little humidity too. Since Thailand has typically thickness about 80% of the year, you’ll want to travel during the times when there’s less humidity. The average temperature is between 20 to 30°C.
When it’s hot and humid in a location without air conditioning, you’ll need extra supplies of underwear, singlets, sandals, and thongs. As a tourist, you can wear sandals, thongs, and shorts in night clubs. There is no dress code there.
On days that it rains, have a rain jacket ready. For the roundtrip flights to Thailand, have a jumper available. The cabin temperature inside of the airplanes is usually about 16°C.
Clothing items are cheap to purchase in Thailand. The most famous shopping center in the country is “Big C.” There is an endless number of clothing choices there.
If you go to certain monumental temples like the First-Class Royal Temples, then their religious expectations are for you to cover your knees and shoulders. Sandals and closed footwear can be worn inside the temples too.
You’ll find lots of tailors in Thailand who can make you some awesome dresses, shorts, or any other clothing piece within 24 hours. If you want a tailor to make you three entire suits, for instance, then it will probably cost you USD 129.
When you are on the plane, you will receive an arrivals passenger card. This is a white colored card which you must fill out. But if you have additional cards available, you can fill it out before your plane takes off. The sooner you arrive at the passport control line, the less time you’ll have to wait to get processed, especially at night. Otherwise, you’ll be waiting for 30 to 60 minutes. Even the baggage collection tends to be slow.
Passport control typically has delays during the daylight hours. It may be a good idea to go to another airport to do your immigration before arriving in Bangkok. If you visit Chiang Mai International Airport, you can spend less than 5 minutes doing your immigration processing there.
